About the project

The Dulacca Wind Farm is an operational 180MW wind farm in the Western Downs Region of Queensland.

Project overview

The project received its Queensland state development approval in March 2019, followed by Commonwealth environmental approval under the EPBC Act in August 2021 and reached full operational output in October 2023.

The project includes 43 wind turbines, each up to 250m in height and generates enough electricity to power approximately 124,000 Queensland homes.

Location

This site was selected as it is ideal for a renewable energy development for the following reasons:

  • Excellent exposure to Queensland’s wind resource
  • Excellent access to the transmission network
  • Excellent transport access with access to major roads and minimal use of local roads
  • Excellent complementary use of land alongside the existing  arming activities
  • Low residential density
  • Low environmental impacts.
